Co-President:
Caroline Mouchon

Caroline is a fourth year PhD student in Geophysics at EAPS, where she studies slow earthquakes and what role they play in the earthquake cycle. She obtained her Bachelors and Master’s in Mechanics and Geophysics in France, her home country. Outside of research, Caroline enjoys biking, running, and skiing, but also trying out new hobbies like pottery or sewing!

Ian Lindberg

Ian is a 2nd year graduate student in Mechanical Engineering and his research focuses on mechanical design for electric vehicles and clean energy.  Outside of engineering, his main interest is in history, and he has worked with academic historians on research that leveraged modern engineering principles to better understand medieval sources.  Originally from New Hampshire, Ian enjoys traveling to experience other cultures and learn about their history.

Vice President:
Fadime Stemmer

As a 2nd year PhD student in the MIT/WHOI Joint Program in Chemical Oceanography, Fadime is studying metalloproteins involved in carbon cycling in the ocean . After spending one year in Japan she studied Biochemistry in her undergrad at the Technical University of Munich and spent an exchange semester at Waseda University, Tokyo, before beginning her PhD at MIT. Fadime enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and bouldering in addition to Taekwondo, playing the Saxophone and Bass guitar.

Annan Zhang

Annan Zhang is a PhD student in Robotics and AI at the MIT Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). His research focuses on equipping robots with novel capabilities to perceive and safely interact with the world. In his free time, Annan enjoys reading and traveling. Having lived in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Annan calls many places his home.

Evelyne Ringoot

Evelyne is a graduate student in Computational Science and Engineering, working in the JuliaLab on High-Performance Computing for linear algebra. She grew up in Belgium and obtained a MSc in Civil Engineering from VUB/ULB Brussels. In her free time, she is part of the MIT Figure Skating team, enjoys spending time in nature hiking or skiing, and likes traveling.

Fabian Dickhardt

Fabian is a 2nd year MechE PhD Student working on surface engineering and carbon capture. He grew up in Germany and Taiwan and has a weakness for Chinese food. In his free time, he enjoys playing the violin and reading.

Caroline Liu

Caroline is a third-year undergraduate majoring in courses 6-3 and 15-1. Caroline grew up in between the US and China, and though she’s never been to Europe, she hopes to go someday (maybe right after graduation)! Outside of classes, Caroline enjoys good food and traveling and exploring new places.

Gwin Zhou

Gwin is a second-year MBA student at MIT Sloan. Originally from China, she moved to the United States for college and pursued a career in management consulting after graduation. Her work took her to San Francisco, New York, and most recently Nairobi. Gwin finds joy and energy in exploring new parts of the world, building meaningful connections with the people she meets, and contributing to the well-being of others. These experiences fuel her passion for making a positive impact, both personally and professionally.

David Simonne

David Simonne is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. Originally from Brittany, France, he holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Paris-Saclay, where he specialized in synchrotron-based techniques. His current work focuses on the design of structural materials for nuclear reactors that can sustain high radiation. Besides work, David enjoys biking, hiking, cycling, reading and video games. Interested in culture and gastronomy, David has studied in France, Italy, Germany, Japan, and Sweden prior to the USA.

Joanna Zou

Joanna is a PhD student in Computational Science & Engineering at MIT in the UQ Group, working on computational modeling and statistical inference for stochastic dynamical systems. Originally from Missouri, she has lived on both US coasts, in the Netherlands as a Fulbright research scholar, and most recently in Berlin as a visiting PhD student. Outside of work, she is often running, hiking, and rock climbing.

Ippolyti Dellatolas

Ippolyti is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering, studying composite soft materials. She is also involved in science policy and advocacy through MIT student organizations and the MIT Office of Sustainability. Ippolyti was born and raised in Paris to Greek parents and spent time in Indianapolis, IN, during her childhood. She enjoys cooking, movies, and exploring cities and nature.

Marieke De Bock

Marieke is a Ph.D. student in the MIT Chemical Engineering department where she currently works on large scale pharmaceutical process development. She grew up in Belgium and obtained her MEng degree in the UK from Imperial College London. Besides research, Marieke enjoys reading classics, swing or waltz dancing, and drinking obscene amounts of tea.

Eleanor Crane

Eleanor is a post-doc in quantum physics working towards simulating nature. She is developing a promising and novel approach to quantum computing which uses quantum bits as well as the fudamental particles of nature: fermions and bosons. She is also co-organising the Harvard European Conference, enjoys adventures - whatever the nature, and grew up in a superposition of England and France.

Laurence Willemet

Laurence Willemet is a postdoc researcher within CSAIL working on remote touch in robotic teleoperation. She obtained her Bachelor, Master and PhD in France, her homeland. Afterwards, she did a first postdoc at TU Delft in the Netherlands before joining the MIT in 2023 as a Marie Curie fellow. Outside work, you can mostly find her on her bike, hiking or on the rugby field where she is playing with MIT woman fellows.

Anna Brandenberger

Anna is a PhD student in the Department of Mathematics at MIT where she works on probability theory. She obtained her BSc from McGill in her hometown in Montreal, Canada. In her free time, you can find Anna at your local art museum, library, piano or darkroom.

Nazlı Ucar

Nazlı is a 4th year PhD Medical Science student. Nazlı is evaluating the movement and distribution of fluorescently labeled vitamin D compounds in a variety of culture of cells including adipocytes. She is originally from Türkiye, she has been lived in Spain/Valencia for 5 years before moving to Boston. Outside of the lab, Nazlı enjoys playing piano, hiking, cooking, trying new health-based foods, attending concerts, and exploring the new city with a herbal tea in hand

Jade Eyles

Jade is a Postdoc at MIT EAPS researching seismicity at Mt. Etna Volcano. Jade completed her undergraduate and PhD in Geophysics in the UK (her home country), with a semester abroad in Australia, before moving across the pond to MIT. In her spare time, Jade likes to travel, spend time outdoors, and knit/crochet.

Alexander (Sascha) Schmidhuber

Sascha is a PhD student at the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics, where he works on quantum computing and quantum information. He obtained his undergrad from ETH Zurich in his home country, Switzerland, but has lived in Germany, Belarus, Denmark and California before moving to Boston. In his free-time, Sascha can often be found kitesurfing, windsurfing or sailing on the Charles River. 

Victor Qin

Victor is a 4th year grad student in MIT AeroAstro, studying unmanned air traffic management and multi-agent reinforcement learning. Originally from Los Angeles, he has been adjusting to the Boston winter for over 7 years now, though not without frequent travel breaks to countries around the world. He plays and coaches ultimate frisbee to stay fit, and loves reading science fiction and philosophy in his spare time.

Veit Hänsch

Veit is a PostDoc in Chemistry working on catalysis. He grew up in Germany and received his Ph.D. from FSU Jena. Outside the lab, Veit enjoys hiking, biking, cooking, and traveling.

Botond Oreg

Botond is a Physics PhD at MIT working on ultra-cold atom experiments. Before coming to Cambridge, MA he did his undergrad in Cambridge, UK and he is originally from Hungary. When he is not in the lab, he can be found ice skating or windsurfing depending on the season or just enjoying sunshine on the Charles River Esplanade.

Anna is an MEng student in MIT EECS writing NLP models for healthcare applications. She studied at MIT for undergrad as well, majoring in physics and computational biology. In her free time she enjoys sailing, reading, and playing board games.
