With an always fresh, seasonal, and wholesome menu, enjoyable for carnivores and vegetarians alike, our dishes draw influence and flavors from around the world. Our bar celebrates American spirits and American artisanal wines crafted by small batch winemakers with heart and soul.

Pub Tour 869: Grendel’s Den

Where:

Hi Pub Friends,
The MIT European Club Pub Tour strikes back, with a stop at Grendel's Den in Harvard Square this Thursday, one of the favorite bars of actor Ben Afleck. Look for the array of international flags at a table near the bar, so you know you are with the right group.

In case you haven't been to Grendel's before, it's a very student-oriented pub, in the basement across the alleyway from Shake Shak. Very reasonably priced drinks, and often half-priced food and appetizers are staple features of their menu.

This happens to be a special year to have a drink with Grendel, as the bar is celebrating it's 45 year anniversary (a rarity for Harvard Square!).

From their website: "Grendel's Den prides itself on an hand-picked selection of imported and domestic beers from breweries large and small. You will find drinkable, flavorful local gems, far-flung discoveries, and customer favorites from classics like Guinness to 'cheap' stuff like 'Gansett. We take our food as seriously as we do our beer and make all of our menu items fresh from Grendel's own recipes. We are located in a basement hideaway on the cobbled walkways of Winthrop Street."

The restaurant is perhaps most famous for the lawsuit Larkin v. Grendel's Den, Inc. , 459 U.S. 116 (1982), which reached the Supreme Court of the United States in 1982: http://www.topicway.com/dictionary/Grendel%27s%20Den

Please Bring Your passport. Hope you all can make It so we can have another great time in one of the oldest social events in town! Looking forward to seeing you all!

"Come PARK yourself for the night…"

New to Harvard Square in the spring of 2012, PARK is the neighborhood restaurant and bar of today: a vibrant destination for friends, family and acquaintances to linger over lively conversation, playful plates and thoughtful drinks.

With a menu full of spirited interpretations on New American classics from Chef Corey Steinke and an inspired selection of international spirits, wine and beer, guests feel at home in PARK’s rustic-meets-luxe subterranean space accented by soft leather couches & armchairs, bookshelves stocked with vintage titles, reclaimed wood tables, and an impressive collection of artwork and photography from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Sting once sang, "Never saw no miracle of science that didn't go from a blessing to a curse." Well, clearly he hadn't been to the Miracle of Science Bar + Grill. A place which fills the senses by being at once both dark and light-filled, and which inspires the mind and nourishes the body with its periodic table menu. Blessings all around.

We're talking about a full face-lift, brand new bar, tables, and atmosphere. The once comfortable cafeteria style restaurant is now opened up into a beautiful dining room, complete with a waiting lounge and 14 seat bar.

The bar is decked out with twenty beers on tap and a full liquor program. Under the guidance of new general managers Kyle Fletcher and Dave Wells, you will find a rotating craft focused beer lineup.
Just before relaunch, the team acquired Chef Adam Ganson. Hailing from the likes of Menotomy, Bull McCabes, and Lower Depths as well as opening an upscale italian joint in Chicago, chef is excited to present you with a taste of the past and future of Cinderella's Bar and Restaurant. You will find classics such as the steak bomb calzone, seafood diablo, and food served until 12:45am. Chef Adam has brought on his famous braised brisket sandwich, topped with frenched onions, provolone cheese, horseradish mayo, and demi, as well as an ever changing snack menu served all day featuring a house made soup du jour, sriracha brined buffalo wings, deviled eggs and more.

A phenomenal Yelp review begins: "So dimly lit anyone can look attractive..." and that will be the backdrop to our upcoming pub tour. But make no mistake, this place had won a bunch of "best bar" prizes and makes for an enjoyable mix of sophisticated cocktail sipping and good old fashioned beer drinking. Come find us this Thursday for some lovely international pretense!

The address is 567 Massachusetts Ave, right above Central Kitchen. The entrance is unmarked and is immediately left to Central Kitchen.

The full-liquor bar serves signature drinks made of muddled fresh fruits and herbs, vintage cocktails, Clerico, Sangria and naughty Bottoms Up shots and the music and ambiance complement our diverse clientele.

The food is International, "straight-up" smaller plates to be paired and shared and the menu represents classic dishes - with our own twist - from other countries

A retro feel and glamorous staff are a further invitation to a fun, lively, and romantic evening with memorable food and transporting drinks. Thank you for the pleasure of your company.

Pub Tour 859: The People’s Republick

Where:
When:

Fall is here, and there's no better place to welcome the impending drop in temperatures than the communist-infused confines of the People's Republik. Cold beer, darts, and multiple varieties of leftism await.

-PM Jon

A laid-back, affordable, somewhat quirky, go-to bar of mine between Harvard and Central Squares. A small-to-medium sized but broad-ranging, reasonably affordable, and high quality beer selection. Dark ambience with high wood tables and wood-paneled walls and, as the name suggests, Communist propaganda signs adding a bit of color and humor to said walls. Greasy pub food, and fries are decadently good. Dart boards and a decent amount of floor space make for a good spot to meet up with friends.

This place accept only cash, Please look for the Europeans Flags, Bring your Passport

Hi all,

Since we are lucky enough to have another week of summer it feels certain that the pubtour this Thursday should take place in an outdoor location.

Felipe's rooftop with colorful lights and tasty margaritas seems like the perfect choice for this evening. Hope to see a bunch of you there! smile

//Pubmeister Frida

Note! Felipe's new location is at 21 Brattle street (right by Crema cafe), thus not at Mt Auburn as their fb site says.

Pubtour 856: Green Street

Where:
When:
post image

This Thursday we're at Green Street, on...do I have to say it...

A refined and dignified place close enough to Central Square but not necessarily of it. If you haven't been there, perhaps you've passed by on your way to the library, or the parking garage, or some other utilitarian neighbor of what can safely be called a destination bar.

Pub Meister Jon Kraft

Located between Harvard and M.I.T. in the heart of Central Square, Green Street has been serving its neighbors since the Great Depression. In fact, Green Street is the home of the city's longest standing liquor license.

Green Street has remained a neighborhood fixture through the years. Reopened in 2006, Green Street has kept its neighborhood feel. But don't be deceived. There's nothing ordinary about it. With its award-winning A to Z cocktail menu, meticulously selected wines, and host of small craft beers, Green Street has gained both local and national notice as a place to imbibe.

Featuring a seasonal, local-based menu, Green Street is a place for all occasions and all size parties. Whether you want a fine dining experience in the upstairs dining room or a beer and a burger at the bar, you will find yourself right at home at Green Street.

With access to the Central Square T stop, and the Green Street Parking Garage right next door, Green Street is easy to get to…. but hard to leave.
